It’s called Greener and it comes as welcome news to companies facing increased pressures. Co founder of the app, Tom Ferrier, joins us now. Morning, Tom. Um, tell us about Greener.

Tom
What is it? Look, Jane, it’s a free and easy platform that helps small businesses save money while getting greener. And we’re doing that by leveraging the scale of Australia’s 2. 5 small to medium businesses and their buying power to bring great offers across their entire business for sustainable solutions.

Think energy, transport, waste, packaging. We’re getting support from some of the biggest names in the country to bring big business prices to the small guys. And reward them for getting greener.

Clint
So Tom, 98 percent of the businesses here in Australia are considered small, if you will. What pressures are they under right now?

Tom
Clint, the pressures are incredible. They’re struggling just to keep the lights on. And the government just came out saying 43 percent of them are non profitable. So they need to come up with new and innovative ways to curb their costs. But what many people don’t know is that the small to medium business sector also contributes a huge amount of emissions.

So we thought if we can help them get better with their bottom line and the planet, we could drive some huge impact.

Jane
So if you’re a small business, sometimes the thought of, um, you know, being environmentally friendly, you’re thinking that is going to cost me money. Um, if, if you’re a small business and you are using Greener, what kind of savings are you getting?

Tom

Look, we’re supporting businesses of all shapes and sizes, even those that work from home. All you need is an ABN to get started. And just this week, businesses signing up are saving huge amounts by switching to 100 percent green power in under five minutes. So the Village Chef, it runs three Meals on Wheels, uh, sites here in New South Wales.

They save $15,000 a year in under five minutes for their energy.

Jane
How are they doing it?

Clint
Yeah, it’s gotta be practical, obviously.

Tom
Well, exactly. You log into the platform, and right there, you then unlock these exclusive member offers. We’ve got an incredible offer from Origin. Typically, green power costs a premium, but they’re providing it at amazing prices.

On average, businesses are saving between $300 and $500. And just overnight, Piasecki Tradies up in Queensland came in and saved 200 bucks in under five minutes.

Clint
Amazing. Tom Ferrier, thanks so much for your insight.

Tom
Thank you.
